Ocean Import Operator

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Day to day Ocean Import Operations, working hours to be 9am to 5.30pm. Handling the import process from start to finish for a multitude of clients via both FCL and LCL to include:

* To communicate and update customers on a regular basis on the status of their shipments.
* To laise with origin offices, managing new bookings, receive pre-alerts and create a file for each shipmen.
* To request information from customers for the preparation & submission to the Customs system and for delivery to the customer avoiding unnecessary delays.
* To create jobs in the operating systems.
* To submit customs clearance using ICE.
* To process shipping line invoices for payment prior to delivery
* To ensure original documents are posted accordingly for release
* To update and maintain customer schedules
* To cost and invoice files.
* To maintain and pass KPI service standards
* To support the management and account managers/BDM's by providing your experience and knowledge to enable them to develop new business opportunities and maintain good relations with existing customers.
* To work effectively with other team members to ensure a positive environment, good operating procedures and practice.

You will also learn an in depth knowledge of the ocean import procedure, understanding rate levels, the ocean freight market, incoterms, and to grow and develop your skills in negotiation, problem solving, all whilst keeping in mind how you can maximise profits, as well as going above and beyond for the clients.

Additional Requirements

1 In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the post holder may be required to perform other duties assigned by the Country Manager from time to time. Subject to adequate experience and/or training.
2 To participate in the annual performance appraisal and objective setting scheme.
3 To work with in accordance with all company policies including Health and Safety, Employment, Staff, Quality and Environment.
4 It is important that during the employment with the Company and any time thereafter, that any information relating to the affairs of the Company is treated with the highest level of confidentiality.
5 To have a detailed knowledge of and apply the Company's Business Plan in all aspects of development.
