I am working closely with a small freight forwarder based in the New Jersey area who are looking to take their business to the next level and add a Business Development Manager to their team.

The client I am working with are a non-asset based freight forwarder, offering Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Customs Brokerage, Project Logistics and some Domestic Trucking.

This is a national position, giving the successful applicant the opportunity to approach business anywhere within the United States.

With the client being a smaller forwarder, there is a real opportunity to earn good money in commission as the client will be offering 15% - 20% of GP.

Duties:
• To generate and follow up sales leads, visiting potential and existing customers to obtain new business at reasonable profit
• To develop and maintain effective business relationships with new and existing clients
• To undertake presentations, produce and present tenders and proposals for new business and provide quotations as required
• To build relationships with overseas agents, supporting sales visits to and from them, offering professional advice and providing them with sales leads in order to generate business
• To monitor and report on current developments in the market and information on competitors
• To demonstrate effective time management, through efficient use of time and resources and well organised route planning
• To prepare and present information for the management team as required, including the submission of weekly and monthly sales reports

Requirements:
• A minimum of 2 years' experience in a freight forwarding sales environment
• Full understand of the Logistics & Supply Chain industry
• Successful and proven track record in business development for air & ocean freight
• Immaculate written & verbal communication skills
• Background in operations moving into sales would be beneficial
• Experience with the German trade lane would be beneficial
